GUIDE TO THE COLORADO LAWYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (COLAP)

A voluntary & confidential program for Judges, lawyers and law students sponsored by the
Colorado Supreme Court

WHERE TO TURN:

Judges, lawyers and law students who take others into their confidence or have responsibility for the well being of others are faced with unique and complex situations that may impact their personal lives.

The Mission of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program is to protect the interests of clients, litigants and the general public by educating the bench, bar and law schools regarding the causes of and remedies for impairments affecting members of the legal profession, and to provide confidential assistance to lawyers, judges and law students who suffer from physical or mental disabilities, or other impairments that affect their ability to be productive members of the profession.

HOW IT WORKS:

COLAP staff will meet with you either in person or via telephone to discuss your issues and concerns and work with you to resolve them. If further intervention is indicated, you will be referred to the appropriate help available for your needs. COLAP can help with family, living and work issues.

CONFIDENTIALITY:

Use of your COLAP is strictly voluntary and confidential. Your contact with COLAP will not be discussed in any way without your written permission. The COLAP office is located away from our workplace to provide privacy and convenient accessibility.
